This upcoming Monday 11/22 in #NYC we're actually doing an IN REAL LIFE meetup for the NEW WAVE HEART THROBS MINI TWITCH RAID.

Some of ya'll who missed the first release hit me up to see if I'd be doing another run of cassette USBs , so I thought this would be the perfect time to do a 2nd run to commemorate this very unique IRL get together.

Here is the "NEW WAVE HEART THROBS" special edition, with it's own special cover for the celebration.

I will have a small batch of these for sale at the event at Rise Radio on monday, and will be selling these online as well for those who can't make it to the spot in person.

These will only be sold for the next two weeks and just like last time, once they're gone, they gone forever.

Dropping the price from $20 beans to $15 beans cause we can all use a little break these days right!?

NOTE - On this cassette USB is the complete mixtape uncut in mp3 format, as well as the mixtape "tracked out" in wav format for the best possible quality for those who need it to burn some CDs and live the life.

PLUS - this version also includes the video of the twitch debut listening/watch party in mp4 format for the release of the mix from July, complete with synced videos and banter from the chat group that I lovingly refer to as the Space Cadets.

All files will be available for immediate digital download upon purchase.

At the end of July 2021 I finally released this mixtape "Get In Loser, We're Going Crying" on cassette USB, a little love letter to that music we call New Wave if you will. I did a very limited run of 48 copies that sold out in a day and change.

From the Linear Notes:

When I was growing up, I had the distinct privilege of being in the broadcasting vicinity of this radio station called WLIR... the "new music" station whose slogan was "Dare to Be different".

These would end up being words I would live by throughout my life.

For those that don't know, WLIR was this groundbreaking station, playing the music nobody else would at the time, music that for the most part would fall under this umbrella that we in general refer to as "NEW WAVE".  It included the genres of synth-pop, 80's, punk, post-punk, new romantic, punk-reggae, Goth, Brit-pop, shrimp scampi, shrimp sandwich... wait that's Forest Gump, my bad.

I also had an older sister who was cool enough to be tuning into that station, and buying all the records from the bands WLIR was playing. So while most kids my age were psychotic fans of New Kids on the Block and Debbie Gibson, I was getting introduced to the likes of Big Audio Dynamite, China Crisis, The Housemartins, New Order and OMD at a very young impressionable age. Thanks Joy (that's my sis).

Now, I've taken a personality test or two in my day, and to no surprise I am one of those weird introverted extroverts (makes sense - gemini over here). And as I grew up, I turned into the prototypical awkward teenager nerd loner "weirdo".

Straight A student, played the violin, was bad at sports, wore glasses since the 2nd grade... aka - not one of the cool kids. For reference, I only got invited to one bat mitzvah through all of junior high. Most of the other kids went to like 10 of em. Shout out to the homegirl Leah for letting me come thru ;)

Anyway, "New wave" music gave that introverted ghost in me solace.

Much of the music had this inherent melancholy that expressed my teenage angst when I couldn't do it myself. The weight of my unrequited crushes were alleviated when I listened to The Smiths or a Depeche Mode song. Made me feel like I wasn't by myself in this cold world.

At the same time, the fact that none of my classmates knew any of the music made me feel like it was made specifically for me. I could scoff at not being included by the popular, because they weren't up on Cabaret Voltaire or Visage. The more obscure the song or the group, the more I wanted to hear it (new wave snob cough cough!!)

And... a crapload of it was ultimately just dance music made in the aftermath of disco (which never died in the UK the way it did here in the states) .

So here it is, a mixtape full of the music that is called New Wave. Volume One. There will be more to come because i couldn't fit everything I wanted to in the requisite 60 minutes.

The question I've always wondered to myself when it came to this genre near and dear to me is -

Did I listen to new wave so much because I was always sad... OR... Was I sad, because I listened to so much new wave?

I guess, it will always be both the cause and the cure for us superfine.

So, Get In Loser... We're going Crying.
