About Sex Scenes and Love Letters and the Young Lions Program
Sex Scenes and Love Letters is an event presented by The New York Public Library and open exclusively to members of the Young Lions Program. The Young Lions are a group of vibrant, eternally curious individuals in their 20s and 30s, whose annual contributions of $350 or more support the educational work of the Library. Throughout the year, we invite Young Lions to attend behind-the-scenes tours of the Library’s collections; book salons with prominent authors; and the acclaimed Young Lions Fiction Award ceremony, which honors five talented young authors every spring and awards a $10,000 grand prize. Sex Scenes will highlight the Library’s collection of romantic writings, from tender love letters to sonnets, to suggestive passages found in classic and contemporary literature.
To support the Library by joining the Young Lions, please contact younglions@nypl.org or 212.930.0885.
“Sex Scenes and Love Letters”, April 25, 7 p.m.
Using materials drawn from the Library’s collections, as well as classic works of literature, this sometimes wry, sometimes earnest evening will feature actors and writers reading missives of affection, passion, and love.
For more than a century, The New York Public Library has provided free education for millions of New Yorkers. From borrowing books and using computers to applying for jobs and learning to speak English, New York residents can count on the Library to discover something new every day. Supporting the Library is to inspire lifelong learning–and will ensure free education for all.
