“Dinner & A Mixtape” is the name of a worldwide series of events hosted by DJ Neil Armstrong, there sharing his love of music & good food. Started in 2013, they have been held in New York, Hong Kong, Toronto, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Manila Philippines.
The idea is simple – partnering up with great restaurants around the world, Dinner & A mixtape provides the opportunity to enjoy music and food together in a very unique setting. Often the restaurant will creat a special menu just for the event, and the soundtrack is provided by a new installment in DJ Neil Armstrong’s Mixtape Library. Part eating experience, part listening session. The food nourishes the body, and music feeds the soul.

The Phoenix edition of this meeting of good eats & beats will be held at La Piazza Phoenix.
That’s right, we’re having a pizza party. Dj Neil Armstrong will be joining fellow east coast transplant Justin Piazza . His sister restaurant in Scottsdale La Piazza al Forno was featured on Food Networks “Diners , Drive ins , and Dives “. The Phoenix location follows the same tradition, using only the finest ingredients, including homemade mozzarella, homemade dough and San Marzano tomatoes imported from Italy. La Piazza is also – just FYI – a VPN certified Neapolitan Pizzeria. Can’t get much better of a co-sign then that ;)

For this Portland edition of Dinner & A Mixtape on Tuesday night March 24th, order DJ Neil Armstrong is partnering up with Saucebox 214 sw broadway near burnside : portland, oregon.
Established in 1995, saucebox has maintained its reputation in the city as the place for the finest in pan-asian and pacific island cuisine with its insider vibe and unique presence. Unforgettable dishes and innovative cocktails have given saucebox national notoriety in The New York Times, Bon Appetit Magazine, Travel & Leisure and The Wall Street Journal – but it’s local attention and accolades like being honored as “Restaurant of the Year” In 1998 by the Oregonian that make saucebox a landmark of Portland restaurant and lounge scene.
We are offering a 3 course Pre Fix menu from 7PM to 10 PM that will include as an option, one special dish created by Chef Alex Diestra just for this event. Cost for the Pre Fix menu will be $45 dollars, and will include a copy of DJ Neil Armstrong’s Latest mixtape Warmfuzzy Part 2 on USB “Cassette” , and also a Download Link of DJ Neil Armstrong’s COMPLETE Mixtape library, including remixes and rarities.

17 Clinton St., look LES, NYC. Rizzo’s has been making a unique style of pizza since 1959, we are a family owned business. Every item is created by hand.
Rizzo’s first started in Astoria in 1959, and in recent years opened up in my favorite neighborhood the Lower East Side.
Being from NYC I like my slices simple. Never had one of them hawaiian pizza joints with the Ham & Pineapple.
So when Rizzo’s Hit me up to create a signature pie it was difficult for me to figure something that made sense.
Enter one of my favorite dishes to make – Marinated Thai-style Pork Spare Ribs.
Marrying asian and italian flavors doesn’t happen too often out there, but I figured we could give this a try. Using a tomato bass, with mozzarella and ricotta cheese on the italian side , the thai spare rib meat and chili sambal sauce to represent some asian flavors, and the red onions + Basil as the ingredients that are familiar to both flavor profiles.

Feb 14th. Valentine’s Day and the NBA All Star Weekend converged in NYC, but so did the release of DJ Neil Armstrong’s Mixtape Warmfuzzy Part 2 – a collection of music from all over the musical spectrum celebrating that crazy little thing called Love.
One of the remixes from the mixtape is this one, Will Ferrell Meets Pharell on a track made by the ficticious Basketball Player Jackie Moon. The perfect song melding Neil Armstrong’s love of Music and Basketball.

I made this mixtape on that date, with this written in the liner notes:
For the next hour, I need you to open up your minds a little somethin. This is the 1st of the AOK Series. You see – you gotta do everything, if you specialize in just one thing, you can’t call yourself an ALL OUT KING. This may be somewhat of a stretch for all y’all who are used to their music in neat little packets. We’re taking a trip, and you’re probably going to hear things your not used to. Don’t worry, I won’t hit you over the head too hard, we’ll do this in babysteps…
This one’s called Warmfuzzy, like the feeling. It’s to “celebrate” Valentine’s Day, but if you’re as pimp as you think you are, this cd should be good all yr round.
At that time, music wasn’t quite this multi-genre stew it is today. Kanye West and Paul McCartney weren’t dropping collabo songs. Miley Cyrus wasn’t making music w/ Juicy J. But on the Warmfuzzy mix, there was everything on it – from Coldplay to Queen to Al Green to Slum Village, mixed NOT in the usual “mash-up” fashion of the time, but in a distinctly tasteful way that made everything cohesive. The subject matter for all the music was that “crazy little thing called Love”. Love kept warmfuzzy together.
After it’s release it became one of the mixes I was most well known for, and also the one that was my favorite to create.
This mix you hold here is Warmfuzzy part 2. Although 10 yrs have passed, the infinite pursuit still goes on. May this be the soundtrack to the next chapters in your story. I’ll still be right here with you…

“Dinner & A Mixtape” is the name of a worldwide series of events hosted by DJ Neil Armstrong, recipe sharing his love of music & good food. Started in 2013, they have been held in New York, Hong Kong, Toronto, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Manila Philippines.
The idea is simple – partnering up with great restaurants around the world, Dinner & A mixtape provides the opportunity to enjoy music and food together in a very unique setting. Often the restaurant will creat a special menu just for the event, and the soundtrack is provided by a new installment in DJ Neil Armstrong’s Mixtape Library. Part eating experience, part listening session. The food nourishes the body, and music feeds the soul.
This event on January 15 Thursday has a slight twist. This is the NYC celebration of the release of “Leaving Dishes Vol 1”, the instagram food guide documenting and sharing all the delicious restaurants around the world that DJ Neil Armstrong has had the opportunity to visit travelling the globe as a DJ. 104 restaurants and 34 cities are shown in a conveniently “sized for travel” soft cover book. Only 250 copies of volume 1 were made.
For this event we partnered up with Bunker Vietnamese, located in DJ Neil Armstrong’s home Borough of Queens NYC. Celebrating it’s 2 year anniversary, Chef Jimmy Tu of Bunker will be creating a very special Vietnamese “Family Style” Tasting Menu for one night only. Throughout the night DJ Neil Armstrong’s Mixtape library will be playing, including excerpts of unreleased remixes he has created over the years.
Attendees of Dinner & A Mixtape x Bunker will receive a very special gift bag, which includes a copy of “Leaving Dishes vol 1”, A limited edition Bunker X DJ Neil Armstrong T-shirt, and a sample of “Bunkers own Hot Sauce” in an event commemorative bottle, which they will be debuting at this event. Finally – all attendees will recieve a FREE Download Link for DJ Neil Armstrong’s COMPLETE Mixtape Library. The DL link alone is worth over $150 dollars, and we want everyone be able to take home the music with them along with their fully satisfied bellies.

My life as a DJ has been pretty amazing. I’ve been able to turn my passion into a career that has allowed me to play music for the masses all over the world.
This opportunity to travel the globe, see has also given me access to some really really really great food;) And yes – I am one of those people… an instagram #foodie – a person who posts up food all up on their social media.
You see, sale Food is a “universal language”, just like Music is. Let me explain.
Everyone can enjoy Music. Everyone. You could listen to an Italian opera and not speak a lick of Italian and still enjoy it… and I’ve met people on my travels to Asia that can’t speak a lick of English, but can recite all the words to Dwyck by Gangstarr. Music has the ability to connect us all despite our differences.
Food is also one of those things that breaks down barriers. I can break bread with a complete stranger, someone who doesn’t speak the same language as me… and if there is some good food on the table, we can both enjoy stuffing our faces until we get the itis. The Food allows us have an amazing shared experience.
So just like I’ve been sharing my love of music via my mixtapes, I’ve been sharing my love of food on instagram, and now I am now sharing my love of food here with you.
In your hands, you are holding Leaving Dishes :Volume 1 – a food guide, a collection of places I’ve eaten at, fueled by my travel experiences over the last 2 years.
The places listed here run the gamut – from the hole in the wall eateries to the fancy pants spots where you might have to split the bill on a couple of your credit cards.
Each entry in the book has been posted on my instagram @djneilarmstrong,. The entries are organized by city, with some basic info for you to start with – the name and address of the restaurant, and the name of the dish I got to enjoy.
Understand that I am a FAN of Food, NOT a critic. So this book is not a “Best of” List. I am not ranking the eateries listed here. This book is meant to be a resource – an easy way for you to find the many spots where I’ve had a good meal at around the world. Then, you can go and eat at these restaurants yourself, and create your own “amazing shared experience”.
